I am an Associate Professor at the University of North Florida in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, where I mostly teach nonprofit management courses in UNF’s Masters of Public Administration program. In 2020 I ran unopposed to serve as UNF Faculty Association President for a two year term starting in August 2020.
I use my practical experiences from working in the public and nonprofit sectors for more than a decade and enhance them with academic knowledge and proven best practices, to enrich my interactions with both my students and clients.
I offer consulting services to leaders in nonprofit and public organizations in the areas of leadership, strategy, and accountability. My years of experience working in nonprofit and public organizations, coupled with additional years of academic training, have provided me with a unique skill-set to help you advance your organization and put it on the path to sustainability.
In 2018 I was elected to Jacksonville Beach‘s City Council for a four year term. I am also a Community Coach for the Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida; a graduate of Leadership Jacksonville‘s class of 2017; a former commissioner on Jacksonville Beach‘s Planning Commission; and former council member for Jacksonville‘s Public Service Grants Council. I also had the pleasure to serve on Jacksonville’s Task Force on Consolidated Government in 2013 and 2014.
I moved to Jacksonville Beach in 2010 from the greater Chicago area, where I was completing my Ph.D. at Northern Illinois University, consulting with nonprofit and public organizations, and teaching at the University of Illinois-Chicago. Prior to that, I lived in Massachusetts where I earned my Masters of Public Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from Bridgewater State University while working for a school-to-work nonprofit as a Career Specialist, and then at Taunton High School and the Senior Internship Coordinator. While taking classes for my bachelor’s degree in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations and a minor in Political Science at Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI, I also interned for the Fall River Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Rhode Island.
